We met in June of 2005 as the result of a set-up from our mutual friend, Kim. After some initial confusion owing to Stacey's corporate junk mail filter, we met for drinks at Bowery Bar, and spent the next four hours together - drinks turned into dinner, which turned into after-dinner cocktails, which led to a shared cab ride to Grand Central. John took Stacey's number, called her that week, and took her to the planetarium the following Sunday.
Four years later, after John had applied, attended and graduated from business school, and Stacey had been promoted from Senior Associate to Manager and then again from Manager to Senior Manager, we set out from Queens for an afternoon in the city before going to see a play that evening.
On Saturday, September 19, 2009, after retracing some of their first date, an increasingly nervous John proposed under the Washington Square Arch in Greenwich Village. Stacey accepted immediately, and after all the shaking, crying, laughing and jumping was over, we called our families and hailed a cab to the theater.
